ANIMALS IN THE LIGHT, Curated by Rickshaw House Gallery.

A multi-dimensional cross-section of different forms of art, illuminated by coloured rays in a dark crypt. Private View 18th June 2017 at 6:30pm. The creative mission of Rickshaw House Gallery is to present art in new, uncharted forms. This exhibition seeks to celebrate our relationship with animals.

Animals have accompanied humans since time began, and their relationship with us has changed over the years. In Greek and Roman mythology, there are many stories about animals. Let’s remember the legend of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, brothers fed by a mother wolf. There is also a legend about goose, which saved Rome from attack.

The Bible also contains stories about animals. Prophet Jonah found himself in the belly of a whale, and Daniel hid in a lion cave and left safely. Noah built The Ark in order to save animals from a flood. Currently, domesticated animals are the closest to humans. They’re our friends and often even our carers, for those who are older or disabled. Many of them also have therapeutic skills.

Animals can also be a topic or motif in art. An artist can show how animals look in real life but primarily how they imagine them. Artist create a world of imagination, their own fantasies, and different creatures may live there.

Due to the upcoming renovation of St Mary Magdalene’s Church in Paddington, this event is the last chance to see such a unique exhibition in this beautiful venue. FREE ENTRY

ARTISTS:

Joanna Sperryn-Jones uses a variety of materials to make installations, in which she seeks to contribute to the perception and experience of breaking. In this exhibition she brings delicate origami flowers to be brought out by the light

Walera Martynchik calls his works –Reconstructions. The titles say for themselves-‘Reconstruction of Heaven’ Reconstruction of Baroque’ Reconstruction of History’. Works presented on this exhibition can be described as “Reconstruction of Myths”

Sergiusz Paplinski The combination of imaginative colouring with the prismatic assemblage produces highly original, dynamic and decorative effects. He has named this ‘PrismaticStyle’

Gail Olding Flunkus Mortati series. These images of stuffed birds and beasts in the forest are named Flunkus Mortati, meaning ‘playing dead’ They live now within the image.

 Olga Sienko uses a full palette of colours to portray nature in a non-natural, but more optimistic manner.

 Henryk Terpilowski uses crumpled paper, spray paint and light to create randomly organic sculptures and compositions, which in this exhibition have further evolved into strangely ethereal life forms.

 Jolanta Jagiello uses a number of metalwork techniques in her work: welding, brazing, plasma-cutting, gas oxy-acetylene cutting, and grinding.

 Elzbieta Chojak Mysko Multidisciplinary artist with knowledge of stage design, sculpture and painting, which allows her to express emotions in shape, colour and form. Her paintings go beyond the borders.

 Nikolay Nedev uses mainly metals like bronze, cooper, steel. Often he likes to work with recycled materials like car parts and matrasses springs. He is expressing his ideas through sculpture, optic art and installations

 Delfin Ortizmain interest is installation and sculpture, focusing on the qualities of light, space, reflection and repetition. He creates, through construction and deconstruction of geometric shapes, the illusion of a three-dimensional figure

 Tomek Mysko He portrays a stream of consciousness through mechanics and physical phenomenon. Exhibiting new animal Multitrumpetus Disciplinaris.

Caroline Hands is a full time visual artist who works in painting, drawing, textile, batiks, felt making, copper and enamel, mosaic, 3D, photography, book illustration and many other mediums.

 Kevin Keating The Popcorn Christ is a modern rendition of a spiritual icon using innovative materials and a expressionist form. In order to further the debate on religion and its relationship with contemporary art. I do not believe that every picture has been Painter or that every story has been told.

Maria Kaleta Her recent art works are inspired by “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” book written by Richard Bach.Free flying with eagles is a dream hidden deep in everyone’s mind.I admire just watching the birds and catching glimpses of theirsmagnificent skills.

Roslaw Szaybo is a graphic designer, illustrator and photographer. He design posters, book covers and albums. He also does satirical drawings.
